BIOL 291/292 Enrollment
BIOL 291. Teaching Apprentice in Biology. 1 Credit.
Permission required. 3.0 or higher in course taught. Experience includes preparations, demonstrations, assistance, and attendance at weekly meetings. Apprentices will not be involved in any aspects of grading. May be repeated for credit.
Repeat rules: May be repeated for credit; may be repeated in the same term for different topics; 3 total credits. 3 total completions.
Grading status: Pass/Fail.
BIOL 292. Teaching Assistant in Biology. 2 Credits.
Permission required. 3.0 in course taught. Experience includes weekly meetings, preparations, demonstrations, instruction, and grading. May be repeated for credit. Six hours per week.
Repeat rules: May be repeated for credit; may be repeated in the same term for different topics; 6 total credits. 3 total completions.
Grading status: Pass/Fail.
Instructions for enrolling in BIOL 291 or BIOL 292
1) From the links below, find the learning contract for the instructor and course you want to take. Download the appropriate file, and fill in the requested information. Then save this to your computer so that you can upload it to the OLCM site.
2) Log into the Online Learning Contract Manager (OLCM) at https://olcm.oasis.unc.edu using your Onyen and password.
3) Fill in the requested information on the course and about yourself on the OLCM form. You may refer to line-by-line instructions in this document. After each page, click on “Save and Continue.”
4) Under Course Requirements, choose “Upload supplemental syllabus file or completed unit learning contract form” (see item 10 in the pdf file). Then browse for the file saved in step 1 and upload it.
5) Review your application and then press “Submit.” At that point it will automatically route to the instructor and to the DUS for their approval, followed by the Student Services manager to enroll you. If any questions arise at these stages, we will contact you.
